This movie indeed left me speechless and a little bit
confused on what I just watched. Going
from monkeys on earth to humans on the moon and then astronauts around Jupiter,
it was like a whole timeline on fast forward.
I was kind of uninterested in the beginning of the movie, but as it
progressed it became more suspenseful.
It relates to a discussion I had in my English class on artificial
intelligence. Our origins as primates to human showed me how evolved our kind
is becoming and how we can go from fighting like barbaric monkeys to having
artificial intelligence, “Hal 9000”, do our every command. But I don’t think it stops there because like
what Hal did, it turned against the human crew symbolizing post humanism
maybe? What if that’s what is next after
humans our own technology taking the place as the dominant species. The movie was not just centered on the Hal
9000, although that was one of the most exciting scenes, the black block
representing another intelligent life seemed like it tried controlling the
evolution of humans. Perhaps that’s why
the movie was on a fast timeline going from primates on Earth, to our moon
travels, then a development of a whole spaceship. That alien intelligent life sped up our
evolution process, so possibly what if they’re like us trying to create another
form of intelligence.Wednesday, February 10, 2016

Hey Matt. I can also say that I was pretty confused throughout the whole movie, and I like how u came to your conclusion of alien intelligence speeding up the evolution process. I was about to tell you that yes, I did not know why I was looking at a black screen for two minutes but after watching the whole film, I also concluded that it was the director probably showing us the bigger piece of the smaller black stone that was in the cavemen scene, the astronauts on the moon scene, and the Jupiter scene. I had never thought that aliens had sped up Dave's life and probably were the ones who placed the stone there in the first place? It is possible that the director was trying to make us think that the aliens were trying to create another form of intelligence, after watching the film a few times.
ReplyDeleteHi! I really like what you had to say about the movie. I just thought it was really boring because I am not really into things about the future and stuff. I do agree that it might not have stopped there because it couldn't have just stopped, I also think it has to do with post humanism. The alien intelligent life might have sped up our evolution process but who knoqs.
